Sorry I've been a bit AWOL and therefore not had the chance to reply to any posts but I have just about managed to keep up with everyones trials and successes i think!

I'm after some advice.

I started to feel really unwell on Mon afternoon and went to bed. i woke up with an enlarged lymph node in the back of my neck and painful red swellings on my forehead and scalp. I started with a fever and then started vomitting.
Tuesdy morning I rang the gp who said he though it was just a viral infection and take paracetomol and fluids as they do.
Then yesterday my ears decided to join in and started to swell and go red and painful with more swelling on my forhead and round my ears.
This morning I woke to find that my left eye had joined the fray and that too was going red and sweling, so after a sleepness night becuase ther is no way i can lay to get comfy i rang the doc again and this time she asked to see me.
Anyway she diagnosed it as infection and inflammation of the soft tissues around the face and scalp and has put me on antibiotics.
Does anyone think this might be RA related or something else entirely?

Sounds strange Julie, poor you!
I don't suppose you have dyed your hair recently?
Sometimes a reaction to hair dye happens over a few days instead of the face and scalp all swelling up at once.
That's the only other thing I can think of,apart from infection.
Hope it settles down soon.

Love, Doreen xx

Thanks girlls. No I haven't dyed my hair, my daughter suggested an allergy of some sort too but I couldn't think of anything.

However this morning shows a great reduction in swelling and pain thank goodness so i guess the antibiotics are doing their thing. I got a good nights sleep too last night!

Hi Julie,

Sounds nasty! My first thought was some sort of allergic reaction to something, but obviously not, if the antibiotics are working.

I`m glad things are easing for you, and hope the lumps and bumps disappear soon.

Take care,

Kathleen x

Really sorry to hear this Julie but pleased things have started to calm down. Try to get lots of rest as this will, as they say, "take it out of you". (I hope you haven't acquired this virus from the overused end of the telescope you use to spy on the fire station. We've told you about disinfecting it loads of times, but do you listen?!))

Much love xx

LOL!LOL

Well today i no longer look like the elephant man, just have this attractice slach of scarlet from my forehead over my eye and towards my ear. My lil ear lobes are tender and a few other places but it is certainly on the run!

I seriously think I may have been abducted by aliens--- that chap in Close Encounters got a red side of the face didn't he? and I can't remember anything about last Tues or Wed? and i have got some scaly bits on my left eyelid?-----now -where's that packet of Smash?--------

hi Julie-

I have funny lumps too (dead attractive me!) lol

but they are not red and inflammed.... it seems it is an infection with you- the RA means less resistence to infection, is often worse and it lasts longer. JOY!

much love

Hi Julie

Sorry to hear you have been so unwell but glad you're on the mend. I blame it on hanging out of windows late at night yelling at passing fireman Blink ... it's made you ill and you have been caught out!

Get well soon,

Lyn x

Now there's the Budgy we all know and love!!

Hope you are feeling better Julie - it couldn't be over indulgence in the old seed cake, could it? I know how badly (and strangely) it affects the rest of the gang, particularly Jenni, who is regularly carted off into hospital due to its ill effects.
